Solar Radio Bursts

What Are Solar Radio Bursts?

Solar radio bursts are radio-frequency emissions from the Sun, often associated with solar flares. They can interfere with radio communication, radar, and GPS when they reach Earth. Type II bursts are linked to CME-driven shocks; Type III to electron beams from flares. Monitoring radio bursts helps space weather forecasters assess flare and CME activity. Cosmic Radar shows reported flares and space weather in the daily report; for detailed radio burst data, see NOAA SWPC and similar sources.
